TGI backs PGA training programme

28/04/2014

Twenty-one Assistant PGA Professionals from across the UK and Ireland have been honoured for their hard work and dedication by the TGI Golf Partnership, the golf retail services group, owned by PGA pros.

The top assistants from the three year groups of each of the seven PGA regions received a cash bonus from the TGI Golf Partnership as well as the honour of being PGA Assistant of the Year.

The TGI Golf Partnership has donated a substantial figure to the PGA pros of the future in backing the awards for seven years and many winners have gone on to join the group. These include Alistair Welsher, Sarah Walton (Kington) and Ben Waller (Kendal) and the Irish trio of Martin Drain, below, left, David Reilly, centre, and John Murray, right.

2804TgiasstawardsEddie Reid, TGI golf managing director, said: “For the last 30 years the TGI Golf Partnership has supported the PGA Professional in many ways, from buying terms with leading suppliers to marketing assistance and free expert retail advice.

“While we have more than 450 partners we like to support those PGA pros of the future. Along with The PGA we support their continued development and hope to see them go on to become highly successful professionals in their own right.”

PGA chief executive Sandy Jones added: “TGI Golf has been a steadfast supporter of the PGA’s education programme, recognising its importance in ushering through a new generation of PGA professionals equipped to deal with the changing demands across all areas of the golf industry.

“We thank TGI for its on-going support in sponsoring these awards across the PGA’s seven regions and most importantly congratulate the successful assistants and wish them well in their careers.”
