The PGA Channel Island Challenge is back!

25/02/2020

Back for 2020 on 19th and 20th May, the PGA Channel Island Challenge is a rare opportunity to play the two best links courses in Jersey, La Moye and Royal Jersey, as a 36 hole event.

Timed for the best of the late spring weather, Day 1 at La Moye will be an 18 Hole Team Format, with teams made up of Professionals and amateurs, subject to the final number of entries.  There will also be an 18 Hole Individual Stableford.

Day 2 at Royal Jersey will be 18 Hole Individual Stableford. Players may elect to play on both days or just on Day 1 at La Moye. While there’s no limit to the number of players at La Moye, the maximum number that can play at Royal Jersey will be 40.

The Professional’s individual score at La Moye will be carried over to the second round at Royal Jersey to decide the overall winner of PGA Channel Islands Challenge.

The event’s driving force, Jersey Golf Coaching’s PGA Advanced Professional Alex Mollin and three-time winner of the Titleist PGA Assistant of the Year award, said: “I’m delighted we’re able to run this event again, now for the sixth time. In true Jersey style it’s very relaxed, and everyone will enjoy some spectacular golf. These two links courses offer a terrific challenge for top class golfers.”

Sam Smith, Regional Manager of The PGA in England (South) added: “The PGA Channel Islands Challenge is a rare opportunity for PGA Professionals to play these two internationally renowned courses in Jersey. The PGA always enjoys coming back to Jersey to support both the Channel Islands based PGA Professionals, and those that want to sample all that Jersey has to offer.”

Mollin added: “Entries are now open to any PGA Professional, who will hopefully bring with them their own Pro-Am team, but if you’re travelling over from the UK and require a team, just let me know!”
