Lee Thompson fired a five-under-par 66 at Salisbury and South Wilts to win the Dorset and Wiltshire PGA medal.

The Dudsbury man reached the turn in one-under-par but breezed home in a back nine of 32 making birdies on four of the last seven holes. This was his second win in a row on a chilly March morning in the last of the qualifying medals for the season finale at Remedy Oak.

The top 18 from the Order of Merit will compete in the final event at the highly-rated mid-Dorset course next month.

Ross Langdon (South Cerney) increased his lead at the top of the Order of Merit by finishing fourth on 69.  First year trainee Gregg Davies (Ogbourne) and Barry Forster (North Wilts) shared second on 68. Forster seems likely to take the second spot on Wiltshire's team. Mark Wiggett (Dudsbury) followed on 70 while Nick Brennan (Bowood) and Mark Searle carded 71.

Paul Jones (Canford Magna), the long-time Order of Merit leader, was fifth on 72 and trails Langdon by 55 points.
