Matt Ford (C+K Group), Charles Wilson (Littlestone) and Chris Gane (Lefthandedgolf.co.uk) shared the honours in the second C&K Specialist Cleaning Group sponsored PGA Leaderboard Challenge Pro-Am, each shooting a four-under-par 66 to tie at the Dale Hill Hotel & Golf Club.

The result earned all three their cheques for £483, and puts Gane and Ford in fifth and seventh spots respectively in The PGA in England (South) Money List, with Jamie Harris (Nevill) still in the lead overall.

Starting from the first in the shotgun start, and playing with the tournament’s and his own sponsor, C&K Group, Ford (above) produced a flawless round, notching up four birdies with two on the trot at the fourth and fifth and two more on the back nine for his immaculate 66.

Wilson, the new PGA Champion of Kent, took a slightly different approach. Starting on the third with a birdie, he reached the turn in level par after bogeying the fifth, but he then charged with four fabulous birdies at the 13th, 15th, 16th and 18th to reach four-under. Two solid pars secured his card of 66 and a share of the clubhouse lead.

On the other hand, Gane’s round of six pars spliced by eight birdies and four bogeys told a very different tale. Starting far out on the 10th with an immaculate deuce, he then birdied the 13th to go two-under-par. Bogeys on the 14th and 16th put him back to par, but a birdie on the 18th got him back on track and under par again.

On his last nine, the fireworks started with a birdie on the first, but petered out almost as quickly with a dropped shot on the second. Two birdies on the trot on the fourth and fifth were followed up with another on the seventh to reach four-under-par. Another dropped shot on his penultimate hole looked like the end of his bid, but he rescued it with a terrific birdie at his last hole to card his share of the win.
