Michael Bullen, Adam Reid and Steven Mitchell all served up two-under par cards of 69 to score 38 Stableford points and share first place in the second Titleist & FootJoy PGA South Winter Series event.
The three winners arrived at their winnings scores in three very different ways at Littlestone on Monday.
Rustington Golf Centre’s Bullen opened with a birdie at the first but dropped four shots over the next three holes before sinking three birdies which got him back level at the turn. Bullen then birdied the 12th and 15th and although he bogeyed the 16th, he pulled another shot back at the last to finish on 69.
Corhampton’s Reid made one birdie on his one-under-par front nine before mixing things up with a series of bogeys and birdies to also finish on two-under par.
Mitchell, of Pentland Golf, found four birdies on the front nine, but nothing more than two bogeys on the back nine for his 38 points.
The trio edged out David Copsey (DCGS Poult Wood)’s 37 points into the runner up spot.
The PGA in England South Secretary, Sam Smith, commented: “It’s great that Titleist and FootJoy support our PGA Assistants and Trainees with a series of events like these, and that through the winter we get to play tournament golf on some of the region’s best courses, which are as good to play in winter as they are in summer.”
Next up in the Titleist & FootJoy PGA South Winter Series are back-to-back events at Prince’s on January 22 and 23.
Entries can be made by all PGA Professionals, Assistant Professionals and Trainees in the South via BlueGolf or contact The PGA in England (South) on 01483 224200 for more information.
