Three Rivers duo target Lombard Trophy success

Three Rivers Golf & Country Club duo Sarah Bennett and Cherry Clark have a chance of winning Europe’s biggest pro-am when they compete in the grand final of the Lombard Trophy in sunny Portugal this week.

Head PGA Professional Bennett and amateur Clarke will go head-to-head with six other clubs in the 36-hole showdown in the Algarve.

More than 700 clubs entered the popular PGA National Pro-Am Championship which reaches its climax at Pestana’s stunning Vila Sol Golf & Resort Hotel on the Algarve from September 21-22.

Bennett and Clarke clinched their spot in Portugal after finishing third in their regional qualifier at Camberley Heath Golf Club back in July with a score of seven-under par 65.

The Three Rivers duo will fly out to Portugal next week where they will come up against teams from Ormskirk, Thorpe Wood, Kibworth, Dinsdale and Bramshaw in a bid to be crowned winners of the 2017 Women’s Lombard Trophy.
