Brickhampton Court’s Ross Langdon won his third Gloucester and Somerset PGA medal this season with a round of two-under-70 par at Forest Hills.
No other player broke par on a pleasant spring day in the Forest of Dean although after just five holes he looked an unlikely winner as he dropped four shots. But six birdies in his closing 13 holes changed everything and he won by three shots. He also collected the birdie and back nine sweeps.
Ed Goodwin (Cirencester) shared second with National Assistants Champion Lee Corfield (Burnham & Berrow) on 73.
Corfield could have secured second on his own but for a clubbing error at the home hole which cost him a stroke as his approach found water.
A blend of youth and experience shared the final prize money in fourth as Mendip Spring’s George Ryall, George Burnett (Liam Bond Golf Academy) and Martin Liley (Wheathill) shot 74.
Goodwin also extended his points advantage over Giuseppe Licata (Filton) in the Total Triumph Order of Merit with three events remaining.
