The Midlands Q School #2 at Stonebridge Golf Club proved a case of three’s company after Chris Freeman let the £500 winner’s cheque slip from his grasp.
Freeman, who is attached to the Welcombe Hotel Spa & Golf, went into the last hole of the Hampton loop of the course a shot clear of the 64-strong field.
However. a bogey at the par four 18th resulted in him posting a one-over-par round of 71 and forced to share the spoils with Woodhall Spa’s Scott Emery (above) and Paul Bagshaw of European Golf.
Emery, by contrast, birdied the hole that proved Freeman’s nemesis to retrieve a two shot deficit. All of which was at odds with a start that saw him record three bogeys in the first five holes.
Meanwhile, Bagshaw completed his round with a par after a birdie at the par five 16th went some way towards making amends for a double bogey two holes earlier.
