PGA Teaching Professional Alan Johnston is preparing to embark on a charity cycle ride from Tickenham Golf Club to Land’s End.
He will be joined by club member Jason Wallace on the 220-mile trip, which has been organised to raise money for Downs Syndrome and neuroblastoma sufferer Harvey Hext, from Bristol.
Seven-year-old Harvey has been diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, a cancer that attacks the nervous system and affects fewer than 100 children a year in the UK.
It is estimated it will cost £300,000 to send Harvey to either Germany or the USA as the first documented patient in the world to have Down's Syndrome and be treated for neuroblastoma.
Wallace, a 38-year-old medical professional from Weston-in-Gordano, and Belfast-born Johnston, 39, will start the ride at 6pm on August 30 and finish on September 1.
Wallace has dedicated himself to further fund-raising and will undertake four additional challenges every week during September.
He will play golf continuously for 24 hours at Tickenham, run in the Bristol Half Marathon, compete in the gruelling Tough Mudder South West 12-mile run and finish by running the Gordano Round, a Long Distance Walker Association route over 26 miles covering the local area.
