Tight at the top at Bishop’s Stortford

The first Order of Merit event on the 2015 PGA in England (East) calendar saw a trio of players shoot one-under-par 70s at the Weston Homes Bishop’s Stortford Classic to head up a congested leaderboard.

Andrew George (Ely City - above), Rob Leonard (Harpenden Common) and James Webber (Three Rivers) will comprise the last group out for the second round at 12.40pm today.

They all played some superb golf in surging to the fore on a sunny but breezy day at the superbly conditioned Hertfordshire course.

No less than six players are just a shot back, while last year’s winner of the tournament, Glen Portelli (Verulam), sits two shots off the front after an opening 72.
