Toby Hunt continued in great form to win the MJ Baker Foodservice Pro-Am with a glittering round of six-under-par 67 with six birdies and 12 pars at Woodbury Park.

A faultless performance followed the St Mellons assistant’s success at Minchinhampton the previous week where he also shot six under.

He picked up three shots in both halves of 34 and 33 on a day where birdies flowed in the East Devon Golf Club’s annual outing for clients, suppliers and friends.

This was the first time the PGA had been involved although a select group played in Somerset cricketer Peter Trego’s benefit day at the same venue last year.

The all-day formula remained the same. Dan Carter (Upavon) led the winning team in the morning Texas Scramble over the nine-hole Acorns course. A gala dinner and presentation followed the main event.

Richard O’Hanlon (St Kew) made five birdies, three in succession from the 12th, to share in a six-way tie for second.   Russell Berry (Broadway) made seven birdies and dropped two shots,  Sion Bebb  (Morlais Castle) eagled the 14th and added five birdies, Matt Dearden (Cardiff) completed his back nine in five-under 31 after opening in level par.

Adam Frayne (Yelverton) and Michael Watson (Wessex Golf Centre) must have fancied their chances after managing five birdies in blemish-free rounds.

Six other players carded five birdies but home teaching pro Christian Vine surpassed them all with eight. But he dropped four shots and shared eighth with James Ruth (China Fleet) who played the final 11 holes in six under par after a double bogey at the fourth.

In the team section Watson played with Peter Blinkhorn, Harry Carter and David Halsey to finish on 91. Liam Bond (Marriott St Pierre), helped by John Wood and Woodbury Park owners Sue Payne and Robin Hawkins, came second on 90 to beat Frayne, Dave Hagman, Stuart Cox and Stef Ayton on countback.
