PGA Master Professional Pete Cowen, pictured with Henrik Stenson, will be among a host of headline speakers at this year’s Golf Show Teaching & Coaching Conference.
He will be joined by a number of soon-to-be-announced experts for a day-long conference discussing everything involved in modern-day coaching, from teaching techniques to increasing profitability through lessons.
The event will be staged on the final day of The Golf Show 2013 – to be held at the Harrogate International Centre from October 8-10.
A former tour champion and PGA Cup player, Cowen established his reputation as a first-class coach while working as head professional at Lindrick Golf Club near Worksop, Nottinghamshire.
Since then his clients have included major champions, European Tour winners and Ryder Cup players including Thomas Bjorn, Lee Westwood, Graeme McDowell, Darren Clarke, Padraig Harrington, Henrik Stenson and Louis Oosthuizen.
Perhaps his most memorable year was 2010 when he helped Westwood take second at the Masters, McDowell win the US Open and Oosthuizen win the Open Championship at St Andrews, with Westwood second and Stenson third.
And Cowen, who is addressing the show in association with Callaway, is excited at the prospect of passing on his experience and knowledge to other PGA Members.
He said: “I understand what it is like to be a PGA Professional and the challenges that many face when it comes to monetising their businesses.
“I hope that through my experiences I can offer visitors useful advice and ideas they can easily put into practice.”
David Colclough, PGA head of member education, said: “Peter is a PGA Master Professional, who is world renowned as a coach.
“Following on from last year’s Teaching & Coaching Conference, and with Pete agreeing to speak this year, I’m looking forward to an equally successful event for PGA members to attend in 2013.
"In addition to his work with tour players he has been a PGA Professional at club level and understands the challenges and opportunities this can create. I’m sure delegates will find his words of wisdom inspiring and useful.”
