Tough luck for pro duo

Former PGA Cup team player Craig Matheson (Falkirk Tryst) and Pitreavie club pro Paul Brookes had to settle for a share of second place in this week's Scottish Midland Golfers' Alliance competition at Alloa Golf Club, Clackmannanshire.

The man they could not catch was Edzell Golf Club's amateur Gary Tough, who plays off plus one.

Under pressure, he responded with a one-over-par 72 which was good enough to keep his nose in front and lift the top scratch prize.

Matheson and Brookes finished a shot behind on 73.
