Nottinghamshire-based PGA professional Andrew Clarke is taking on his second gruelling fund raising challenge in three years.
The kind-hearted pro is attempting to play 500 holes in five days for the SANDS (still birth and neonatal death) charity.
The Trent Lock pro and his partner tragically suffered the loss of their own child earlier this year and were very touched by the support they received from the charity.
“We had never heard of SANDS before but they really looked after us when we needed them and we just wanted to do something to help them in return” said Clarke.
Two years ago, Clarke and three pals raised £15,000 for Cancer Research after cycling from Gleneagles to Breadsall Priory in just four days.
This year he's going solo and taking on a more familiar challenge, he'll be up at daybreak from Monday to Friday next week in order to find time to play 100 holes per day on his local courses.
Monday sees him tee off the challenge at his work place, Trent Lock Golf Club, the following two days he'll be playing at Ilkeston Borough before returning to Trent Lock on Thursday. Finally he travels to Derbyshire on Friday June 13, finishing the week off at Breadsall Priory.
He has already raised £2,500, halfway to his target sum and members and visitors at his home club have been enthusiastically entering the charity competition to guess just how many shots it will take him to complete the full 500 holes.
