Giuseppe Licata continued his relentless charge towards retaining his Total Triumph Order of Merit title with his second straight Gloucester and Somerset PGA medal win at Forest Hills.
The Bristol Golf Centre pro was the only player to beat par with a one-under 71, finishing one shot ahead of the relentless George Ryall (Players Club).
Light winds and sunshine followed a delay for overnight frost and Licata opened with a birdie three. Four birdies came on the way home at the 10th, 13th, 15th and 18th.
Late starter Ryall started poorly dropping three shots in the first four holes, but he picked up birdies at the fifth, seventh and ninth, adding another at the 15th.
Local star amateur Jamie Dick, Cirencester’s Ed Goodwin, who was returning after finishing in third place in the Golfplan Insurance PGA Pro-Captain Challenge Final in Turkey, and Filton assistant Tom Duke, in his best performance of the year, were third.
Big-hitting Duke also made five birdies to share the birdie sweep with Licata.
