Following on from our previous communication earlier this week, we are now in a position to provide further clarification on coaching, driving ranges and retail operations in England when golf re-opens next Wednesday (December 2).
The Government has announced a new regional three-tier system which will come into place on December 2. Different tiered measures will be implemented depending on what tier level your area is designated.

Adult Coaching
Tier 1 (medium alert) – Coaching CAN take place outdoors. Coaching indoors can take place, but you must follow the ‘rule of six’, that is, the coach plus up to five others.
Tier 2 (high alert) – Coaching CAN take place outdoors. Coaching customers indoors is not permitted.
Tier 3 (very high alert) – Coaching CAN take place outdoors but people should avoid higher-risk contact activity. Coaching customers indoors is not permitted.
Junior Coaching
Junior coaching is permitted in all three tiers.
Ranges
Some golf ranges can be classified as indoor settings but it would be for each facility to read and interpret the guidelines against their own venue and facility. If Members require confirmation of this, then they are advised to contact their local authority who will be best placed to advise.
Retail
From 00.01 on Wednesday 2nd December, golf retail can re-open across all tier levels. However, COVID-19 procedures must be in place.
If you wish to seek further clarification on any of the points above or if you have any other COVID-19 questions, please contact your Regional Manager, your Business Relationship Officer, or call The PGA’s dedicated COVID-19 Helpline.
In addition, the COVID-19 Resource Hub, located on the PGA website, continues to provide up to date information for our Members, including information around financial support packages available.
