Update from Tristan Crew - wearing of shorts at PGA Tournaments

08/03/2023

Tristan Crew, Executive Director - Member Services, provides an update on a recent PGA Executive Committee meeting where the wearing of shorts at PGA Tournaments was discussed.

At the February 2023 meeting, the PGA Executive Committee discussed the wearing of shorts at PGA Tournaments following feedback from the Regional Committees. The PGA Executive Committee has decided to allow the wearing of shorts by PGA Professionals at Pro-Ams for a trial period of one year, at which point the policy will be reviewed.

Therefore, with effect from 6th March 2023, the dress code regulation has been updated to permit PGA Professionals to wear shorts at Pro-Ams delivered by The PGA. Please note that the wearing of shorts will not be permitted in professional only PGA Tournaments or where a Golf Club’s dress code does not allow shorts. In order to ensure that you are compliant with the regulations you will need to refer to the individual tournament conditions documentation for each specific event.

The full wording of the revised dress code regulation can be found in the Tournament Regulations document, Part 6B, Clause 22 which can be accessed via the PGA website.

Kind Regards,

Tristan Crew
