Van’s the man

Van Phillips (Stoke Park) fired a superb second round 65 to land the PGA in BB&O’s Professional Championship held at the fantastic Cotswold Club.

After a solid opening one under par 70 in the morning, Phillips turned up the heat after lunch with six birdies in a flawless display that clinched the title by two strokes from first round leader Greg Blainey (Billingbear Park).

Blainey followed his 67 with a 70.

Longball Inc’s Guy Woodman matched Phillips’ 65 - recovered from an opening two over par 73 to finish in third place.

Martin Woodbridge (Bearwood Lakes) remains top of the Order of Merit after finishing tied eighth at one over par for the 36 hole tournament.
