Vinum Say Salute to the South!

28/04/2014

The UK’s leading wine merchants for top quality Italian wines – Vinum - is putting a whole new spin on holes-in-one at the 2014 Virgin Atlantic Little Red PGA South Order of Merit events.

As The PGA in England (South)’s latest supporter, for any player scoring a hole-in-one at a par 3 in the final round of any of the 2014 Virgin Atlantic Order of Merit events, Vinum is offering the same number of bottles of wine as the yards the hole measures. And that’s not just for the lucky player, but for the golf club hosting the event as well.

Head of On Trade Sales Sergio Fraudentali is happy to raise Vinum’s profile in this novel and mouth-watering way, as he explains: “We’re delighted to become an Associate of The PGA in England (South), and show our support in this innovative way for the region’s top players.

"We can’t think of a better way to inject some excitement every time each player in the final round tees up at a hole where there’s a potential hole-in-one!”

With the 36-hole PGA Kent Open presented by Vision4Sport, teeing off today there’s every possibility that Vinum’s generosity will be sampled to the full.

This year’s venue, Prince’s, has four testing short hole opportunities over its championship 18 hole Shore-Dunes course. The longest is the eighth on the Dunes nine at 217 yards, so potentially that’s 217 bottles for the player who makes a hole-in-one, and 217 more bottles for the club.

The 2014 schedule includes six other majors – The Wildernesse Order of Merit supported by KRL (19-20 May), Virgin Atlantic PGA Southern Open (2-3 June) at Drift, PGA Surrey Open (30-31 July) at Kingswood, The PGA in Sussex Open Championship (11-12 August) at Sweetwoods Park, PGA Southern Professional Championship (9-10 September) at Kings Hill, and the Wildwood Invitational (8-10 October) – where Vinum’s amazing offer will be put to the test during each of the final rounds.

Founded by oenologist Angelo Cane in 1991 and based in Twickenham, Vinum has been supplying award winning Italian wines to top restaurants and retailers including Harrods, Waitrose, British Airways, M&S and The Wine Society. As a merchant it prefers to deal with smaller family-owned and regionally-based wineries that can deliver distinctive flavour and premium quality year after year.

Salute Vinum – and to a hole-in-one in the final round of an Order of Merit event!
