John-Paul Banbury fired five birdies as he rediscovered top form at the Welcombe pro-am in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Banbury’s seven-under-par 63, which included an eagle at the 16th, was one of the finest displays of the year and came after he had initially made a slow start to 2014.
Mark Butler (Mark Butler Golf Academy) also found his touch and recorded his best finish of the season with a 65 for second place which included an eagle at the very first hole.
Two Warwickshire based golfers, Ian Smith (The Warwickshire) and Joseph Smoothy (Marriott Forest of Arden) shared third place with a pair of 66's as the scoring stayed low on the parkland layout.
Always a very popular destination in the regional diary, the Welcombe pro-am was well supported with 39 fourballs in attendance, Banbury recorded a notable double as his team romped to a comfortable win in the team event as well.
