Jonathan Langmead looked to be heading into the winner’s circle on his second appearance of the season in the Teign Valley Fourball pro-am after a run of four successive birdies from the 12th hole.
But, from being five-under for the day, he made a double bogey at the 195-yard par three 17th and signed for a three-under 67.
This brought the Exmouth Golf Centre professional a healthy lead until Paul Jones (Canford Magna) matched the score two hours later helped by four birdies. Then Giuseppe Licata (Bristol Golf Centre) followed with five birdies to make it a three-way tie.
But Welsh wizard Sion Bebb (Vale Hotel - pictured) is an expert of coming from behind to win. He snatched victory with a four-under 66. His crucial moment was making an eagle on the par five 15th and he played the final 11 holes in four-under.
Home professional Ben Martin won the team prize on 119, followed two shots behind by James Pickard (Honiton) with Langmead third on 124.
