Chris Gane shot a spectacular seven-under-par 65 to win the Farnham Charity Pro-Am by a three shot margin, walking away with the well deserved winner’s cheque for £1,000.
A day after organising his own LINX Telindus Charity Pro-Am at Wentworth, the team event was won by Gordon Wardrop's Team Telindus, led by Scott Shibley (Army).
Gane's performance left a hard charging Michael Lowe (Leatherhead) in the shade in second place on four-under-par, and Paul Nessling (Cooden Beach) and James Ablett (Lee-on-the-Solent) nursing cards of three-under-par 69 for third spot.
The winner got away to a flying start with a birdie at the opening hole. Two steady pars were followed by another birdie at the fourth, and again at the eighth to put Gane on three-under-par at the turn. After another birdie at the 11th, Gane then found top gear with birdies on the 14th, 16th and 18th to finish with a brilliant 65.
With six birdies and an eagle in his round, Lowe should have threatened Gane's lead but bogeys on four holes between the sixth and the 13th spoiled his chances.
Nessling got into the frame with a spectacular eagle on the last hole, enabling him to share third place with Ablett whose front nine of two-under-par looked promising despite a bogey on the second, but whose back nine of one-under-par including a dropped shot on the 17th took the shine off his round.
