Former PGA Cup player James Whatley will put his fitness to the test when he competes in the Derby Sprint Triathlon on Sunday, September 11 to raise money for breast cancer research.
The 33 year old head PGA Professional and academy director at East Midlands Golf Academy at Morley Hayes was inspired to take up the challenge by his sister Janine who was diagnosed with the disease at the age of just 32 in 2010.
“It has been really hard but Janine has shown great courage and determination, being a wife and a mum to my two young nieces,” said Whatley.
“This November she will be a model in London for a fashion show raising money for Breast Cancer Care. I said I would do my best to help her raise some money, so here is my help to put my body through a 400m swim, 18km bike ride and a 5km run!
“I appreciate we get asked a lot to donate to charity but any help is appreciated in supporting my challenge.”
