The winner of this year’s Coca-Cola PGA Assistants’ Championship will earn a year’s supply of Coca-Cola products.
After a six-year gap, The PGA is delighted to welcome Coca-Cola back as the main sponsor for this year’s PGA Assistants’ Championship.
Coca-Cola had previously sponsored the tournament, open to all PGA Assistants, for a decade from 2004 through to 2014.
This year’s event, which carries a prize fund of £27,975, will be played at Oakmere Golf Club in Nottingham from September 23-25.
A qualifying round played at Oakmere Golf Club on September 21 will help determine the 120-strong field who will compete across three rounds in a strokeplay format.
As well as taking home a cheque for £5,000, this year’s champion will win a year’s supply of Coca-Cola products to stock in their selected pro shop.
Paul Robertson, Associate Director at Coca-Cola European Partners GB said: “Coca-Cola European Partners has enjoyed a strong partnership with The PGA over many years.
“Our brands have provided refreshment to the huge number of golfers across the UK and I hope we have provided support to all the PGA Professionals at clubs throughout the country.
“I am very proud to be part of this new partnership and everyone at CCEP is looking forward to working with The PGA and its Members to build an even stronger platform for growth over the coming years.”
The Coca-Cola PGA Assistants’ Championship, one of the oldest on the national schedule having been first played for in 1930, has been won by some of the biggest names in British golf including two-time major champion and Ryder Cup-winning captain Tony Jacklin, Peter Alliss (eight Ryder Cup appearances), Harry Weetman (six appearances and 1965 captain) and Dai Rees (nine appearances and captain five times).
Charles Hine, Head of Tournaments at The PGA, commented: “This is a fantastic prize and we’re thankful to our new sponsors for providing this year’s field with an added incentive to win at Oakmere Park.
“The PGA Assistants’ Championship is widely regarded as one of the Association’s most popular tournaments and we’re delighted to welcome Coca-Cola back as a main sponsor.”
