Richard Bentham from Hensol Academy continued his fine form in South Wales PGA events by winning the latest medal on a wet and windy day at Whitchurch.
A five-under-par 66 brought his third win of the winter season. He started with a bogey but four successive birdies from the sixth steadied his round.
The prolific Craig Melding (Neath) was four-under-par after the front nine and only one shot behind. Although he dropped shots on the way home he recovered with two late birdies.
Cardiff’s Adam Constable made a rare appearance to finish third while Paul Mayo (Pontnewydd) and Toby Hunt (St Mellons) followed on 69.
Bentham also took the betterball award with amateur Gareth Jones on 46 points, making 25 points on the front nine with seven birdies.
Simon Askins (Southerndown) and Matt Thomas followed on 44 points, one better than Constable and Wayne Joinson who pipped Melding and Steve Watkins over the back nine.
Melding leads the Order of Merit from Chris O'Neill (Cardiff) and Bentham.
