James Ruth continued his successful season by winning the Marston’s West Region Championship pro-am before the main event at Chipping Sodbury.
The China Fleet trainee, who is enjoying his best year in regional golf, shot six-under-par 66 to finish one clear of Lee Thompson (Dudsbury) while three other in-form men David Dixon (Enmore Park), Adam Frayne (Yelverton) and Richard O'Hanlon (St Kew) shared third on 68.
Ruth made three birdies in each nine of 33 in the day’s only flawless round as he won for the seventh time this season.
Thompson eagled the 528-yard third and Cennydd Mills (Pyle and Kenfig) and Kevin Harper (East Devon) followed suit with the only other threes on par fives.
Dan Toogood (Weston-super-Mare) led the winning team on 93 points from Ashley Mansell (Clevedon) on 88 and Toby Hunt (St Mellons) on 87.
