Dan Wood fired a four-under-par 68 to win the sixth leg of The PGA in Northamptonshire Winter Series at Overstone Park Golf Club.

The Brampton Heath pro defied blustery conditions to card five birdies with just one dropped shot on the trick par three 17th hole.

Wellingborough’s Simon Lilly took second place with 70 closely followed by Matt Hodgkiss on 71.

Lilly continues to enjoy a big lead in the Order of Merit but with Arizona calling he leaves a chance for the rest of the field to close the gap.

Meanwhile Sam Jarman maintained his recent good form to finish fourth with a level 72 while the remaining prize money was shared between those finishing on one over 73; Shane Rose, Adam Myers and Paul Broadhurst.

Lilly guided his team of Les Bone, Marc Davis and Tom Pearson to an excellent 127 – 17-under-par which was four shots clear (131) of David Poolton’s team from Collingtree Park, Lee Heffron, Anthony Brown and Kyson Lloyd.

In third place was Stuart Kier’s team Dave Watson, Ash Patel and Tony O’Conner with a score of 132.

Twenty five teams supported the event which was sponsored by the Association’s new president Ivan Roy.

Special praise was reserved for the Overstone greens staff who presented the course in top shape despite heavy rainfall in the days before.
