Wood and Gill share at Falmouth

Chis Gill (Newquay - above) and Dan Wood (Ivyleaf) returned rounds of four-under-par 68 to share top place in the Cornwall Professional Alliance at Falmouth.

After a season of many wet and windy meetings the members at last enjoyed a warm sunny day which was reflected in the scores.

Killow’s Richard Sadler was third on 70 followed by Katie Rule (Tehidy Park), Grant Slater (Trevose) and Paul Martin (Carlyon Bay) on 69.

Martin won the pairs with amateur partner Chris Watkins on 43 Stableford points, beating Perranporth’s Chris and Joe Durkin on last nine countback.

The next Alliance will be the mixed event at St Austell on April 23 followed by the championships in the final meeting of the season at Carlyon Bay on May 1.
