Rookie pro Tom Woods stormed to victory in the inaugural PGA in England and Wales (North) Inter-County Assistants' Matchplay Championship at Bolton.
It was the first taste of success for the second year trainee at Bromborough Golf Club.
Woods, 22, breezed through the semi-finals 5&3 against Formby Hall's David Goscombe.
And he was on course for another convincing win as he squared up to Rudding Park Academy's Andy Rigby who had dispatched Westerhope's Ross Crowe 2&1.
Woods, who was in the final pairing when Rigby won the Sue Wright Trophy at Helsby in July, raced four ahead after 13 holes and, despite a fight-back by his opponent, he prevailed two up.
"I've not played a lot this season because I've been studying for my PGA exams," said Woods.
"But I'm planning to enter more events next year and perhaps try for the Europro Tour."
