Rich Woods claimed the annual Devon PGA Championship for the first time with a win at Dartmouth.
The Dainton Park pro followed a one-under-par 71, which gave him a three-stroke first round lead, with a level-par 72.
Yelverton’s Adam Frayne and Woodbury Park’s Christian Vine were three strokes behind at the halfway stage.
Play was suspended due to the weather, but a re-start was possible in improving conditions and Frayne set the early clubhouse pace with 70.
Sidmouth's Kevin Harper returned the round of the day – a six-under-par 66. This was good enough for a tie for second with Frayne.
Woods praised his short game for his success. Having lost to Paul Hendrikson (Dinnaton) in the final of the matchplay he said he realised how good the top players’ short games are and so has worked really hard on that area of the game.
Ben Martin from Exeter Golf and Country Club won the Under 30's title.
