A Staffordshire club is making it easier than ever for would-be golfers to give the sport a go.
Branston Golf and Country Club is launching a new series of sessions to help beginners get in the swing.
The four weekly lessons will teach the basics of golf for anyone starting out in the sport or looking to improve their game.
Head professional Steve Hadfield (kneeling right) and Academy manager Joe Docksey (kneeling left) will host the Get into Golf sessions at the club’s 20-bay driving range. They take place on a Monday evening from 7pm-8pm and cost just £20. All equipment is provided.
Hadfield said: “No previous golfing experience is necessary and the sessions are open to all ages and abilities.
“These sessions are an ideal introduction to a sport that offers many health and social benefits and those taking part quickly make new friends as they get to grips with the basics of the sport.
“We offer follow up courses so that those interested can further develop the skills needed to enjoy golf out on the course while providing a route into club membership, where everyone can enjoy the splendid social scene for which Branston is renowned.”
The club, which has a strong track record of introducing new players to golf, can be found just a mile outside Burton on Trent.
Hadfield added: “While our new members are keen to get golfing on our courses, some of them don’t yet have friends at the club and need to know how to get going, who to ask for guidance and how to take advantage of the club’s splendid clubhouse, health and fitness facilities and extensive range of social events.
“Often many of them at the new members meetings have never met before but they soon get talking, sharing experiences and making arrangements to play golf together or meet socially.”
Gareth Shaw, development officer for the Staffordshire County Golf Partnership, said: “Branston is an inspiring facility, with dedicated professional staff and great customer service – which all adds up to the perfect environment to get into golf.”
