Shona Malcolm, Head of Tournament Strategy at The PGA, said: “WPGA tournaments are open to all WPGA Members and Trainees, no matter where they are located and the 2024 season schedule demonstrate our commitment to taking WPGA tournaments to all parts of the UK and Ireland, and to great courses.
“The profile of the WPGA Series is always raised in a Women’s PGA Cup year as WPGA Members strive to make the Great Britain & Ireland team, and this year is no exception.
“The importance of securing Royal Troon as a host venue for a WPGA tournament should not be under-estimated. Both Royal Troon and The PGA are committed to developing the women’s game and this new addition to the WPGA Series schedule provides the opportunity for both parties to work together to promote the importance and progressive nature of engaging women in golf.
“The remainder of the schedule contains a real variety of superb courses and tournament formats spread throughout the UK & Ireland, providing different types of playing opportunities for all Members. WPGA tournaments have grown in popularity year on year, and it would be great to see many more WPGA Members taking the opportunity to participate during the coming season.”
WPGA Cup Captain, Cathy Panton-Lewis added: “Our British and Irish Women’s PGA Cup team came so close to winning last year under Sarah Bennett’s captaincy and I believe that we can win it in 2024.
I’m hugely looking forward to watching – and playing in - the WPGA one day events and Women’s PGA Championship at Goswick as we finalise the Women’s PGA Cup line-up. These events are hugely enjoyable and I’d urge all WPGA Members to enter as many events as possible in what is an exciting schedule.”
